In another article I spoke a little about what Leaky Gut Disease (or Syndrome) is, the symptoms and some of the things that can cause it. And, although the symptoms of Leaky Gut Disease can be quite minor at first, they generally progress to become more uncomfortable and restrictive.
Fortunately, there are steps you can take to prevent Leaky Gut’s progress, steps for healing leaky gut disease.
For any health-related issue the first step should always be to discuss it with your health-care provider. Leaky Gut Disease was misunderstood in the past, but the good news is that there is generally more recognition now as the percentage of the population who suffer with the condition has increased. If you think that you might have Leaky Gut Syndrome then it might be necessary for your doctor to take an intestinal permeability test.
As well as talking with your doctor, there are a number of things you can do to help yourself. When you’re looking at the tips below, remember that there may not be one simple cause for you to focus on. Instead, you need to take a look at the root of the problem as well as the superficial symptoms. The main focus, therefore, should be on healing the gut.
To begin with, there are a few things you should try to eliminate or avoid: chronic stress, which can impair your immune system, exposure to chemicals (environmental and household), foods you’re allergic to, foods high in sugar, white starches, fermented foods, mushrooms, whole-fat cheese, fried food, caffeine, alcohol (Alcohol has very nutrients itself, but it does use them to metabolize, and it contains toxins that strain the live and damage the intestine.), NSAIDS and other drugs (both prescription and OTC), but always consult your doctor before changing any medications
There are also some things which you’ll want to add to your routine to help heal your gut. This includes: eating more fiber, drinking lots of water every day, replenishing your bacterial flora with prebiotics and probiotics, adding nutrients to your diet (including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B5, zinc, aloe vera, folic acid and glutamine), eating small amounts of food, exercising more to sweat out toxins, making sure you chew food thoroughly and using a Candida cleanse to get rid of parasites and yeast.
As I mentioned, there probably isn’t one cause for your Leaky Gut Disease. It’s a complicated condition involving many possible causes and many kinds of symptoms. Fortunately, there are also many steps you can take to help yourself not just manage those symptoms, but also address those causes. The steps in this article are a “short list,” but they should get you started back on the road to health.
