Baby Cooking Advice

Something that babies can’t do is live on milk alone. Switching over to foods that are solid is something that you will want to do after you feed your baby milk for the first couple of months. When your baby is looking for more than just milk they will often give you signs, you can learn about the signs from books and other parents.

Cooking for your baby is pretty much like cooking for grown-ups. The only difference is that preparing baby food calls for extra attention and care in the preparation and handling of ingredients. Make sure to get foods that are safe for your baby to eat.

Ensure that you clean your hands with soapy water before handling any food. Drying them off with a clean rag or towel is important in making sure that your hands remain clean. Clean all of the utensils that you will need to use before using them to make the food.

Any vegetables and fruit that you are going to use in the meal should be cleaned and prepped. Seeds can be dangerous so make sure that you remove them before and as you are cooking. Taking out the tough parts of meat and fish, such as fat and meat, is something that you will want to do when cooking them. Your baby will need to have you cut up the meat into small pieces for them.

There are about two exceptions to the rule but make sure that you thoroughly cook all vegetables and fruit before giving them to your baby. You can cook them in the oven and microwave by steaming them or boiling them. If you want to keep more of the nutrients in the vegetables then your best choice is to steam them.

As for carrots, turnips, spinach and beets, you must boil them at all times rather than using the microwave or steam-cooker. These vegetables normally contain potentially detrimental nitrates that are largely removed in the course of boiling. Also, bear in mind that it’s not necessary to add any sugar, fat or salt to your baby’s food.

It does not matter how you cook meat and fish. The only things that you have to do are to get rid of any fat in them and to cook them well done. Keep the fat to a minimum if you must fry it.

Make use of a mashing fork-or a food blender, if you have one, to mix up the food to its appropriate texture. If your baby is still in the early stages of taking solids, then the food must be totally liquefied. As his/her tolerance to solid food increases, you can slowly transition to slightly thicker and chunkier servings. Needless to say, you need to give your little one some time to adjust at each stage of the progression.

If the food that you prepare for your little one is to hard then it is a good idea for you to moisten it with water. You will want to make sure that the food that you feed your kid is warm. Babies are more sensitive to heat than we are so, they can get really burned if the food is to hot.
