Diet, is one of those crazy words that for an slightly obese person, really worries you. It’s also another reminder about how your stomach is bulging and an unhealthy “spare Tyre” is developing that doesn’t seem to respond to any diet or exercise program know to man.
I for one has just completed a diet recently, called the soup diet, where the average meals are replaced with lots of healthy vegetable soup. For me it was fairly easy to follow, however I must admit that I wasn’t always following the instructions to the letter and on several occasions ate other things not on the menu. But mostly I did the regime as laid out and continued well past the “completion date” .
I think this is why it’s so difficult for people to loose weight , because when nothing happens, like many others I asked myself “what do I need to do?” just to loose some weight. I did not loose any weight from doing the “Soup” diet, one kilo at the most. So I drew a conclusion, that what might work for other may not necessary work for me. “Just don’t eat so much” was my Doctors response to me asking him about loosing weight. Easy for him to say, he’s a skinny dude. Anyway here are the three most important points that I have learned about weight loss which I feel is consistent and gives good results.
1. Drink lots of water ( water cleans you “from inside out”, and prevents you from overeating (makes you feel full) and keeps you hydrated). It also works wonders for your Skin, your Liver and Kidneys and general well being. Simply keep a drink bottle near you all the time and take a sip whenever you notice the bottle. I keep a big glass next to the sink in the kitchen and every time I see it, I fill it up and drink the water straight away without thinking
Remember the old saying , eat like a King in the morning , like a Queen at lunch and like a pauper in the evening and especially no solid foods after 8pm. Eat many small meals as many as six everyday and if you are going to eat more do so in the morning or at lunch, never in the evening prior to sleeping.
3. Stay away from Bread( Flour), Sugar and Salt, eat less that 125 gram of protein per day and less than 250 gram of Carbohydrates per day. Exercise 3 times x 30 minutes per week ( walking or similar) but get the heart rate up. Two minute intervals between walking fast and walking slow or similar.
So to summon up , get plenty of rest ( your sleep will improve, when your body no longer have to battle the late evening meals. The water will keep your body and your skin in first class order. The body will be happy with a healthy diet of many small meals, mostly consistent of protein, Fish, Meats and Chicken with a variety of healthy salads (dark green vegetables preferred). When you discard the Flour, Sugar and Salt your bloating of the stomach will go away and finally the exercise will give you more strength and stamina, release important endorphins into your bloodstream and make you feel a lot better about the world and everyone in it.
