Consider a pet. Studies reveal that individuals that have pets, specifically cats and dogs, tend to live a more happy and healthy life. Pets provide love and companionship, which may be helpful in mitigating minor depression. Playing with and caring for pets on a daily basis may help a person to focus less on negative thoughts and emotions.

Participating in a regular fitness routine, including walking, jogging or other quick exercises, can lower depression. Studies show that walking for 30 minutes each day release endorphins that help to ease stress and anxiety and improve heart health. Walk away the blues. Vigorous exercising can help keep the fog from depression in check.

Participate in a hobby or enjoyed activity. Too much idle time allows the brain to loop negative thoughts. Focusing on activities breaks negative emotional repetitiveness.
