6 Things You Don’t Know About Nutrition

As research is conducted across many institutions, the field of nutrition keeps on growing and growing. In fact, you can expect to see exponential increases in this field as obesity rates keep on rising.

Unfortunately, a lot of key points can get lost within this vast reservoir of knowledge.

So here are some commonly overlooked things about dieting:

1. Food quality has a direct effect on partitioning: When you are in a negative caloric state, what you eat goes to active tissues or inactive tissues (i.e., fat). And the quality of the food you eat dictates what percentage of food goes to active tissues.

2. Fat gets stored in many places: Fat isn’t just under your skin, it’s all around your internal organs and arteries. So even if you have low body fat in the traditional sense, you could still have high amounts of fat inside of you.

3. There is no benefit to completely eliminating saturated fat: No peer reviewed research has clearly shown a benefit from completely eliminated saturated fat. So please do not waste mental energy or time trying to completely eliminate saturated fat from your diet.

4. As blood sugar goes up active tissues reduce absorption rates: So don’t assume that eating a bunch of food is going to flood your muscles with energy or that it will accelerate your recovery. On the contrary, it will decrease the amount of nutrients getting into your active tissues.

5. You should never eat less than 1200 calories: Do this and you run the risk of some serious health issues. You see, nobody has a basal metabolic rate that is lower than 1200 calories. In other words, there is no benefit to going on a super low calorie diet.

6. Fiber supplementation is not healthy: In fact, some studies have shown that fiber supplementation can actually increase cancer rates. So make sure you get your fiber from whole foods, not supplements. Remember that solid food will always be better than a supplement.

The field of nutrition is always going to be providing new insights. The key here, however, is to not suffer from analysis paralysis. Instead, take immediate action on this information now!
