Are you wondering how you can cut the time you spend doing cardio in half? Cardio is one of the most dreaded parts of the workout. If you’re like most people, you don’t look forward to working up a sweat by running or biking. So, here are some tips to get double the results from your card workouts in half the time!
1. You will continue to burn fat after you do cardio
2. Take it easy at the end of your workout, but only if you push yourself first. It’s been proven to be more effective to start strong.
3. Give this a try: keeping your heart rate at 80% of max for short time period (say 20-30 minutes) instead of the long, slow, boring, endless…
4. Doing intervals has been proven to burn more fat. Try adding sprints to your cardio.
5. Do strength training before cardio. This is proven to kill more calories.
6. Don’t rest between sets. Keep the pace moving from exercise to exercise and you’ll find your heart rate jacked, which also means melting more fat. That is the same style I train my Huntington Beach boot camp. We hit combo moves, cardio drills, and then go right into an ab set all with out taking a break!
7. Increase the resistance and decrease the repititions. I promise you won’t get huge and bulk up, but I will promise that you will lean down and tone up much faster than before. Give it a try.
8. When you do cardio, focus and concentrate. Crank some motivating music, but don’t read or watch TV. You won’t work as hard and it’s a waste of time. So push hard, focus and before you know it, you’ll be relaxing on the couch with your book.
9. Fool yourself into getting your cardio in! Being a trainer, I realize how important cardio is, so at my boot camp in Huntington Beach, I sneak in the cardio training in subtle ways and my clients don’t even realize that they’ve doing it! When you’re having fun in your workout, cardio is not a chore. Time will fly by if your get creative with your cardio.
Not everyone enjoys the monotony of cardio training, that’s a fact. But it is important and the benefits are well worth it no matter who you are. Keep these ideas in your mind the next time you hit the gym or head out for your card training, and if you don’t enjoy it more, at least you’ll enjoy the results!
