I love carbonated soda. There, I said it. It quenches my thirst in a way that non-carbonated beverages don’t. The effervescence refreshes me as it slides down my throat.
Soda seems to satisfy my sweet tooth. Unfortunately, many of us come to rely on sugary soda not only for its’ refreshment, but for the sugar fix so many of us crave.
Unfortunately for us soda-lovers, the sugary treat damages our teeth, leads to weight gain, and can have a negative impact on our level of energy throughout the day. But there are other drinks that can be substituted for soda to give us our refreshing break.
If you enjoy soda as much as I do, but do not like the negative impacts, consider trying some of my favorite replacement drinks. Over time, you may just like them better than your usual soda.
Club soda is one alternative to regular soda. Club soda is free of sugar and has no calories. The carbonation mimics the refreshing feeling of soda without the health risks that come with sugary sodas.
If club soda is a little too bland for you, try a carbonated fruit drink. Look for a completely natural brand such as Fizzy Lizzy. Natural sparkling juice drinks offer great flavor without sugar or other additives.
Green tea is another option. Green tea offers a small amount of caffeine for a small pick-me-up without a large energy crash. Green tea is packed with antioxidants which are known to have health benefits. I find that the herbal qualities of green tea bring a calm and relaxing feeling to my beverage breaks.
Substituting one or more of these beverages in place of soda can make a large difference in your overall health. Are you ready to make a small change that will have big benefits?
