Are you trying to make it work on a fast weight loss plan? Regardless if you are dealing with a personal trainer and spending 8 hours of your day at the gym or if you are choosing drastic weight loss through a homeopathic HCG weight loss diet or another form of fast weight loss plan you’ve found available. There are so many diet options and they all seem to vary greatly. We’ve discussed (in past articles) the advantages of one over another. And we’ve discussed the methods for deciding which fast weight loss plan will suit your individual needs; your situation.
But that is not what we’re going to do today. Today we’re about to talk about something that is problematic on almost any fast weight loss plan out there; any diet that you might choose. It doesn’t matter which one you are trying to navigate there’s one thing that continues to haunt most dieters regardless of how hard they try. What is this issue? It is criticism and negative thinking.
We are our worst critics. This is “one of those old sayings” because it’s true. Some will try to skew this as a benefit that will aid them in their dieting. They think that it shows they are trying hard to keep themselves on track and be a better person than they are. But there aren’t many who will argue when it comes right down to it…optimism vs. pessimism. Optimism wins almost every time.
Dieters trying to “make it through” a stringent weight loss diet are often going to make a mistake here and there. We hope they won’t be big mistakes. But guess what? They could be. Everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes are little (maybe an additional serving of lean steak at dinner) and other times they’re big or even huge (maybe a night out at the Cheesecake Factory or another of your favorite restaurants serving buffalo wings, fries and molten chocolate cake for dessert).
When mistakes happen (as they are bound to) you might spend the next week or more just beating yourself up about it. You might sit down and try to decide just how bad you were by deciphering how many calories you probably ate when you made that “mistake” and then you might even try to figure out how many days you’d need to go without any food whatsoever in order to balance out this one binge or mistake that you made.
And all of those possibilities are absolutely negative. They just amplify what was one simple mistake that can’t be reversed. The best way to handle a mistake is to recognize it as such and decide if there was anything that caused it or encouraged you to make that bad decision. Decide not to do it again and then move forward; move on!
Moving on is a terrific concept. And since some aren’t sure what that means we’ll go through it step by step. You made a mistake. You know it happened. You are aware of the situation that provided the means for the mistake to occur. Now…the next step means no beating yourself up. You don’t focus on it. You decide that you are going to make better decisions from this point forward and then you move forward.
Consider a perfect day instead as your focal point. Or if you haven’t had a perfect day yet then generate the image of the perfect that yet to come and focus on that. The perfect day depends upon which fast weight loss plan you are sticking to. But if you were on the HCG diet your perfect day might include immediately weighing yourself when you wake up and then starting the day with your HCG drops. Then you have a large glass of water while you make a pot of herbal tea to tide you over until lunch.
Perfection! You’ve done it. Congratulations! Now you know what it feels like. Make that your focal point; your mental goal. It didn’t make your Cheesecake Factory trip go away. But you aren’t bemoaning the fact that you made a mistake and wasting time that could be spent creating a better track record. Quit thinking about that time you messed up and instead think about that time you were perfect. It was a good morning. Relive it frequently and aim for it everyday!
