A lot of high profile women are sporting some pretty lean arms these days. Madonna and Michelle Obama immediately come to mind. And I can guarantee you that they didn’t get said arms by doing push-ups all day.
And I can guarantee that they didn’t get said arms buy doing the wrong exercises. In fact, they probably had a very targeted exercise routine which allowed them to tone the arm muscles directly.
And most women don’t know which exercises are good and which are bad. There is simply way to much misinformation out there for you to sift through. Luckily, I’ve already done all the sifting for you!
Today, I will be reviewing reverse push downs to get rid of arm jiggle:
1. Overview: Few women actually do this exercise because it requires putting your wrists in an awkward position. This exercise mainly targets the medial part of the triceps which makes up the inner part of your arm.
2. Quick start: Grasp a bar in front of a machine and use an underhand grip. Keep your abs slightly contracted, and press the bar down while keeping the elbows frozen in place. Once you have gone through the entire range of motion, slowly let the bar up.
3. Common errors: Allowing the upper body’s posture to deviate. Rocking back and forth to get the bar down. Not keeping the weight of the body on the heels of the feet. Not keeping the elbows locked in place. And gripping the bar too tightly which can cause massive wrist strain.
4. Bottom line: This would be a great exercise if it weren’t for the weight limitation. Because of the underhand grip, it’s virtually impossible to use heavy loads. And heavy loads are essential for the fastest arm toning.
Now don’t be overwhelmed by all the exercise information out there. The last thing you want is a serious case of analysis paralysis. Find a couple solid and basic arm exercises that allow you to use heavy loads, and you’ll be well on your way to lean arms.
Also, make sure you put this information into practice. If you don’t, you will most likely forget it.
