Controversial And Confusing Nutrition Principles

Obesity isn’t contained to the western world, the rest of world is also gaining weight at alarming rates. And being overweight is correlated with the top causes of death in the United States and by extension, other western countries.

To further complicate matters, there is a wealth of confusing and contradictory information on how to eat right for fast weight loss.

So here are some overlooked aspects of fat loss nutrition:

1. Dietary protein is easily stored as adipose tissue: Don’t be fooled by protein’s high thermogenic effect. In fact, many people use this as a crutch to eat endless amounts of steaks. Do this and you will gain weight. In fact, your body has the necessary enzymes and pathways to store protein as fat very easily.

2. Dietary protein is not the best muscle-sparing nutrient: In reality, carbohydrates are the best nutrient for muscle-sparing. You see, without carbs your body will seek out a substitute source of energy in the form of your muscle protein.

3. Powders are not better than food: Despite what all the marketers would have you believe, taking in excess amounts of protein powder is not better than taking in solid food. You see, your body does best with slow rates of digestion, even with protein.

4. You can lose fat while eating carbs: Caloric intake is what controls fat loss, not carbohydrate intake. Keep in mind that you can keep your blood sugar levels low while eating a substantial amount of carbs. The key is to have balanced meals with a mound of vegetables.

5. Large fruit intakes are not healthy: Modest fruit intakes can improve health, but excessive fruit intakes can decrease health substantially. The issue here is that fructose (the sugar in fruit) causes your liver to produce triglycerides and cholesterol. I recommend having fruit for breakfast and before working out.

6. Fat from plants is good for you: Even saturated fat from plants is good for you. In fact, fat from coconuts is considered to be extremely healthy. So make sure you don’t neglect saturated sources of fat from the plant kingdom.

Eating the right way to lose weight doesn’t have to be super complicated. In reality, if you stick to what is proven by research, it can be easily manageable.
