Hormones can change the human body in profound ways. So it makes sense to not just focus on calories when you are trying to get in shape.
Unfortunately, many people simply ignore the hormonal part of the equation.
So here is a quick guide for controlling and managing cortisol in your body:
1. Don’t let your schedule get out of whack: Once your schedule gets disrupted, your internal biological clock will get out of sync. And once this happens levels of cortisol will begin to rise in your body. So make sure your schedule is as regular as possible.
2. Eat at the same times every day: An irregular eating schedule will also disrupt levels of cortisol in your body. So make sure you eat at the same times every day. Moreover, you want to prevent yourself from letting more than 5 hours pass between meals.
3. Don’t exercise for too long: Once you exercise past a certain point, your levels of cortisol will begin to spike. So make sure you never exercise for more than ninety minutes. Even better, don’t exercise for more than sixty minutes.
4. Have a liquid meal right after you finish training: This is a great way for ensuring that your body does its best in terms of getting cortisol back down after an intense workout. You see, stress hormones are released during exercise.
5. Eat slow digesting carbs before training: This will prevent your blood sugar from plummeting in the middle of your workout. It will also prevent cortisol from getting too high during and after your workout. You see, cortisol is secreted during any type of exercise.
6. Avoid carbohydrate elimination: Taking out carbs from your diet causes cortisol to increase. And increasing protein in your diet also causes cortisol to increase. So make sure you don’t follow a high protein diet a la Atkins.
Cortisol is an important hormone to manage. So make sure you take heed of the advice in this article for the best results!
