It’s the big day. Today’s my very first day on the very low calorie portion of the diet. I’m on the prescription HCG diet. And I’ll be honest…it’s really quite tough. Partway through the day I realized that I wasn’t drinking enough water. That’s something that I definitely need to work on.
Immediately after I woke up (on the day after Thanksgiving) I took my weight. I bet there are not very many people out there who leap out of bed the day after Thanksgiving and weight themselves. I was up one pound from the day before; at 171 pounds. I’ve been loading for two days so I figure that’s to be expected. I gave myself my prescription HCG shot and took my oral B-Total drops. Then I offered the kids an after Thanksgiving day leftover breakfast feast in an attempt to get rid of all the yummy food I would not be able to eat. Whatever they didn’t eat…I threw out.
I knew that I wouldn’t be able to withstand that particular temptation so I got rid of it entirely. Then I had a glass of water. I also had some Green Tea. I tried sweetening it with Vanilla Creme stevia. It’s okay, but it’s not something I would prefer on a regular basis. I wish I was attached since herbal teas are pretty much the only freebie on the prescription HCG diet besides water.
When it comes to drinking a lot of water…I thought it would be difficult to go wrong because one of the most frequent mistakes is not getting enough water while on the VLCD. When lunch came around I was really ready to eat. And I didn’t have anything ready. Lesson 1: prepare lunch before you’re starving.
By the time I finally had something put together (REALLY basic) I scarfed it down. My kids were home since it’s the Thanksgiving holiday and they really enjoyed their yummy, non-diet food. I hated making grilled cheese sandwiches for them when I wasn’t going to be able to have one. It was the closest I’ll ever feel to being a martyr. My lunch started with a lettuce and tomato salad.
Along with my simple salad I had some cooked chicken. I just used non-stick cooking spray in a pan on the stovetop to cook it. I used Creole Seasoning on the chicken. (It was listed as approved according to the diet protocol). And several of the reviews/testimonials had specifically mentioned that it was really good. And it was not just good; it was great! It might be my new favorite seasoning. Since Creole flavor had never been something I incorporated in my cooking I was surprised at how much I liked it.
I had strawberries with both lunch and dinner for my “fruit” portion of the diet. I was a little sad that the kids were dipping their’s in chocolate and I didn’t get to, but I did try mine with a little Stevia. It was pretty tasty.
For dinner Lisa dropped by and we made Shake and Bake Tilapia (from the HCG Diet Direct Recipe Guide). It was fantastic!
Non-dieters at the table even agreed that the fish was really, really good. So I don’t think we liked it just because Lisa and I were hungry. So that was the first day. I think it went well. I hope tomorrow goes just as well.
