The female abs hunter should be wary of to much definition because of the natural layer of fat that is indigenous to women. Aim for the smooth toned look because that ripped look can be very dangerous for the softer sex. You really do not get your abs much larger anyway when you do the heart throbbing crunches.
Watching what you eat and going to the gym several times a week will help you lose some of that fat in the middle, but do not over do it, things could go south fast if you are a woman.
To trim down the tummy fat you simply need to stop eating all the fast foods and the things that can cause plaque build up on your arteries. Work on reducing your carbs, salt and alcohol content. Along with feeling better physically and mentally you will step up your metabolism along with your energy. Green teas and caffeine, it is thought, will get your metabolism moving faster, which, in turn will get the fat burning up faster.
When doing crunches for the abs you need to do them in slow motion, gripping your muscles, breathing slow and rhythmically as you are tensing. Lay on your back, with legs bent under at the knee, feet positioned with the soles on the ground, hands folded together in back of your head. By Bringing yourself up touching your right elbow to the left knee, then going back to the flat position and doing it again with the other elbow to the opposite knee, you will have achieved two reps.
Leg raises work just like the stomach crunches but target the lower half more. What this consists of is lying flat on your back with hands behind your head, legs together straight out. Lift both legs together about four inches off the ground, tensing the muscles as you go, hold it for a ten count, then slowly lower them down touching the floor. Do reps of ten, rest, then do ten more. Believe me, you will feel this one in the abs.
You will need to get the rest of your body in shape along with your abs; it’s very important that the cardiovascular system gets a workout as well. Running, cycling, swimming can all be done in the gym but start out slowly and do not over exercise on the first day or you will pay the next day.
Shoulders, wrists, and arms can be built up with the famous push ups that you are taught in high school. Chin ups are an excellent way to tone the upper arms, but do be careful as too many reps will cause your muscles to get sore and stiff the next day, which doesn’t do much toward inspiring you to go back for more.
Remember to replenish your body after each exercise session with protein (peanut butter is great), juices and a some bananas for magnesium and potassium. Stagger the days you work out and then vary your ab exercises. It is not the hardest thing to do to stay in shape, but it will keep your figure toned and prime your body for some new exercises and sports such as tennis. That’s definitely a sport that will be get your muscles toned! Especially if you want to get down the pounds in a hurry. The constant starting and stopping burns fat extremely well. That, however, is information for another article.
