A little inside info on what acne really is before I go into back acne treatments.
Both men and women are equally affected when it comes to acne. As a matter of fact, it is not uncommon for women to develop acne in their mid to late-20s, even if they’ve never had it before.
Back Acne can show up as: blackheads, whiteheads, pimples (affectionately known as zits), pustules, or cysts (really deep pimples, sometimes called boils). They show up mostly on areas of the body where there are lots of “oily” glands, i.e. face, forehead, shoulders, back, chin, and chest.
There is NO ONE cause of acne breakouts. It is multifactorial. I think that is why a lot of so-called acne “cures” don’t work in the long term. They address one factor, while neglecting the rest of them. Here are just a few of the contributing factors prophylactic, adrenals, tension, surroundings, diet plan, micro organism, irritation, heredity, cosmetics, prescription drugs… When a doctor is trying to treat the acne it is so important that he or she consider the whole body and not just the area with the acne, for the whole body contributes to these factors.
Here are just a few of the contributing factors human hormones, adrenals, tension, atmosphere, diet regime, micro organism, irritation, heredity, cosmetics, drugs…why any effective acne therapy, worth it’s weight in salt, needs to consider the whole physique for it to work.
I tried cremes, pills, lotions, diet changes (no chocolate – ouch), and even contemplated having the pimples cut off (which was the doctor’s suggestion). Nothing worked. The antibiotics worked for a short time, at least giving me some reprieve during 11th and 12th grades, but it came back for years afterwards (I was struggling with back acne well into my 30s).
I have heard horror stories of how antibiotics will not only destroy the bad bacteria, but all the good stuff too. The research shows that while antibiotics may help get rid of “symptoms”, it can do as much damage to other areas of the body at the same time! Great. Now, I read about these super bacteria which are resistant to antibiotics. There has to be another answer. There have to be acne treatments that work. Don’t worry, there is.
This is a little of what I have been through. Acne is one tuff bugger because it’s out there on the front line, you can’t hide it and I would dare to say it is one of the first things people notice about you if you have acne. But, this back acne stuff is tough because of not only how it looks, but how it feels. Boils are no fun. I’m sorry if you are reading this because you have back acne, however there is hope!
