In order to lose weight effectively you must rein in your appetite and control junk food or late night cravings. One of the best ways to accomplish this goal is to slip some nutrition into your weight loss diet. The trick of course, is to manage this technique in such a way that you do not add more calories or not many more anyway to your meal. High nutrition helps build lean muscle mass and curbs your appetite, both of which are great for weight loss.
Here’s what I’ve been trying out. I know you’ve probably heard many times before, that greens such as mustard greens, Kale, Bok choy, Swiss chard, etc are the top most nutrient dense vegetables.
Most people, myself included already know how nutritious these vegetables are but simply never thought about adding them to a meal. Now, if you are of the salad eating clan you are getting some green leafy vegetables, however they do not even compare to the nutritional value of Bok Choy, Mustard greens, kale and Swiss chard.
The trick to including these vegetables was figuring out how to slide them into a meal without tasting them on their own.
It is no secret that there are many recipes available but for the person who loves soups or tomato sauces with an Italian flavor this works great.
Let your vegetables simmer until they are all nice and soft. Remove zucchini, onions and the greens, transfer them to a blender. Blend them up smooth then add them back into your soup or tomato sauce.
You may not be a fan of the taste of these types of greens separately (kale, bok choy, mustard greens, etc)… however, pureed and blended into the sauce or soup actually makes a pretty delicious mixture and also adds a tremendous amount of nutrient density to your meals to satisfy your appetite and help you lose weight.
As an added bonus, you get better vitamin absorption when you puree vegetables that are this nutrient dense. Pureed greens are easier for your body to handle; digestion is smoother especially when compared to chewing. The body will actually absorb more minerals and vitamins this way.
Most parents struggle with feeding their children healthy meals, and this is a creative way to do just that. It might be a tad bit sneaky however, when you need to get more greens into the kids without a fight, why not? Your children will never realize there are any vegetables at all in your soups or sauces provided you get the recipe and seasonings correct. This is one strategy that makes weight loss a bit easier.
