Cartoons in Cosmetic Products

Cartoons in movies and TV are the most important part of your childhood. The importance and affection still associate with women when they grow older to their 30s and 40s. Such special linkage opens the market for cartoons in different types of cosmetic products. The cross-over between the cosmetic brands and the cartoons is of great success in the cosmetic industry.

The launch of 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie leads to the introduction of cosmetic products (limited edition) from at least 3 different brands. Paul & Joe from France launches its Alice in Wonderland Collection. Other than the Alice in Wonderland collection, Paul & Joe also launches its Disney collection with Bambi face color, Marine the Cat lip treatment and Lady from the Tramp protective hand cream.

Another cosmetic brand that has significant involvement in the cross-over with cartoons is M.A.C. M.A.C. has a line of products for Hello Kitty which is the most popular cartoon cat in Japan over more than 30 years. To match the image of M.A.C., Hello Kitty is themed with pink and black instead of pink and red. The Hello Kitty collection offers various cosmetic products including lip stick, eye shadow mascara and false eyelashes.

M.A.C. also teams up with Disney recently to launch its Disney Collection line. M.A.C. takes four wicked Disney characters and designs the color schemes for each of them. These four characters include Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog. There is also a wide range of products including lip stick, eye shadow, liquid powder and powder blush in this collection.

Julius the Monkey is Paul Frank’s best known character. This cute monkey appears on different products such as fashions, stationeries, accessories and footwear. To capture women and girls in the skincare market, Paul Frank launches its lip balm and lip gloss set, named as Lip Smacker. These lip treatment sets are contained in tin boxes and trendy cosmetic bags with Julius the Monkey as the logo. Besides, the flavors of these lip treatment are monkey approved!

Finally, cartoons appear in the fragrance and perfume industry as well. Moschino Cheap & Chic line is totally inspired by Olive Oyl on scents and product design of the fragrances. Olive Oyl is the character from the Popeye cartoons. There are three perfumes namely the original Cheap & Chic, I Love Love and the newest Hippy Fizz. I Love Love and Hippy Fizz enriched with floral and citrus scents are more suitable for younger women.
