Are you interested in it and wondering what kind of gear you will need to have before you can begin? If so, continue reading. This article will tell you what exactly you will need to have before starting the 90 day fitness program called P90x.
During the 90 days you’ll be doing a variety of workouts that will have you doing lots of different bodyweight exercises such as push-ups and pull-ups as well as weightlifting. The weightlifting part requires that you pick up either dumbbells or exercise bands. Dumbbells are more often than not the more expensive choice. Some people pick up a set of adjustable weights, which give you the most weight options at a cheaper price than buying each one individually. Used weights work just as well, so if money is an option, new or used makes little difference to your muscles.
Of the two options, resistance bands are the more affordable option. They may lack the reputation that free weights have, but in recent years, that is all changing. They provide a few benefits. One is that they make it much harder to cheat with. Free weight lifters are often tempted to use other muscles or momentum to help the muscle up. Using momentum only cheats the muscles the exercise was supposed to target out of being worked harder. A second benefit is that they are not influenced by gravity, so they will provide tension from the beginning of the repetition, to the end. It is recommended to have at least three different exercise band options so that you have one that will work for your stronger muscles, one for your middle range, and one for your weakest areas.
There are a lot of pull-ups and chin-ups that are done throughout the program. As a result, a pull-up bar is a must have. Any type will work, just as long as it is secure and strong enough to hold your weight.
What do you need for P90x? All that you absolutely have to have are dumbbells/resistance bands, and a chin-up bar.
