Mexican food has a lot of ingredients that are absolutely fabulous for weight loss, but it also has ingredients that will put a nail in your weight loss coffin.
The good news here, however, is that some simple choices on your part can keep you in the weight loss zone when eating Mexican food.
So here is how to lose weight with Mexican food:
1. Avoid the chips: Not only are they full of saturated fat, but they are also loaded with carbs. Additionally, all the salt they are covered with will leave you bloated. If you feel like snacking, go for the spicy carrots instead. The pickled radishes would be another good option here.
2. Use avocado as your main fat source: Every healthy weight loss meal should have a fat source. And avocados are an extremely good source of fat. Just make sure you don’t have guacamole that has been blended with sour cream.
3. Eat the inside of the burrito: The contents of a burrito can be extremely healthy, it’s the tortilla that you have to be careful with. Just make sure your burrito isn’t loaded with rice, sour cream, or cheese. Try to get grilled chicken, beans and lots of vegetables.
4. Stay away from anything that has been fried: Especially taco shells since deep fried shells pack an insane amount of calories. Even worse, the saturated fat in the oil will prevent your active tissues from absorbing carbs.
5. Put mounds of salsa on everything: Salsa has few calories, lots of nutrition and is very spicy. And keep in mind that spicy foods help you get the “feel full” feeling much quicker. They also raise your metabolism to a small degree.
Eating out is a part of our social fabric. And Mexican food is one tasty choice that many people like to indulge in. It can also be a healthy choice as long as you make some smart decisions!
