Breast implants were invented in 1960’s. Two Texas doctors have discovered this technology and have become popular in the present day. Further study and research has been done since present time to perfect implants.
Three different kinds of implants are being done these days. Any of them can be chosen by the patient who wants to undergo the breast enhancement surgery and each of them has some positives as well as negatives.
Silicone is the original kind of implant. As it was the first one therefore 5 improvement generations have been seen by this. All this has been done responding to the demand of the market. In the second generation lighter casing is being used for getting a feel which is more natural.
Catastrophic ruptures had been caused by this generation. Eventually silicone was banned in USA. In 2006 the use of silicone prosthesis was approved by FDA as the casing was hardened and silicone that was more cohesive was made.
When silicone was banned, saline started to be used instead of that and was much safer as well. But on the other hand rippling was more likely to be caused and even the rupture as well with the results that could have been less dangerous. Saline’s main advantage is that it’s cheaper as compared to the other two.
Most recently created prosthesis is Gummy Bear Implant. Quite dissimilar to the silicone and saline variation its rupture is impossible to be caused. The reason for this is that highly cohesive silicone is being used for making it and the consistency it has is just like that of the gummy bear.
The disadvantage that these implants can have is that larger scars are being left by them after the surgery. These are also not available to the ones by whom this option is chosen.
Every type of implant has their advantages as well as disadvantages but is depends on the patients more, what type of appearance they want and how they want to be sensed. The amount of money to be spent on the prosthesis also matters.
