Tips and Trends for Winter Makeup

Winter is dull and boring. However, there is no reason your makeup has to be dull and boring as well. Check out our tips to keep winter makeup looking hot even in the coldest of temperatures!

Next, look for a foundation that provides a little more coverage than you wear in the spring and summer. You don’t have to wear anything that is mask-like, but most women can benefit from a little more coverage in the winter. Plus, you won’t need to worry about the staying power of your foundation like you do in the warm weather. Also, I suggest you try a nice moist finish. It will keep your skin looking fresh instead of dry.

Use your powder sparingly. This is a tip you should follow all year. This does not mean you should never wear powder. This just means that you should use a minimal amount of powder. Powders tend to give the skin a dry appearance. A little will go a long way. Use a small amount to finish your makeup and , if needed, provide a little more coverage. That is it. Also, if your skin is oily, try not to keep piling powder on throughout the day. Instead, keep oil blotting sheets handy. These work great to control shine, and you won’t have to worry about your makeup looking too heavy.

Moving on, don’t be scared of color in the winter. This applies to lips, eyes, and cheeks. Many women I see want to pull out all their brown and taupe cosmetics as soon as fall arrives. This is not necessary. Winter is the perfect time to explore colors such as berries and rich wine tones. Always choose between playing up your lips or eyes. It is not a good idea to go heavy on both. That being said, if you choose a heavy smokey effect for your eyes, go a little softer on your lips.

Overall, winter is a great time to experiment with new ideas for your skin and makeup. Try our tips, and keep your makeup looking just as great as it does in the spring and summer.
