I Could Not Do Anything To Lose The Weight

I was always known as the fat kid or fat person in my home. I was never involved in sports very much growing up. You were more likely to find me at home eating a bag of chips after school than doing anything else. There was no trouble determining the reasons why I was so fat. My lifestyle was designed to help my body grow in the wrong way.

As I got older, things did not get any better. I became more than just the at kid, I was struggling with obesity. Regular furniture was not well designed for me. I saw the fear in people’s eyes when I went to an all you can eat buffet. I was fat because of the way that I ate and the lack of exercise, and I did nothing to fix it.

Eventually I realized that my life as I was living it had to change. I could not do things that normal people did. To get healthy was not going to be a matter of a miracle diet plan for me. The diet plan did not work and I not only wasted time but ended up in worse shape from trying it. But there was something else I found in my research. I had to find a way to use up more energy than was in the food that I was eating. That required me to do some type of work out. The biggest obstacle I faced in this task was the fat that was all over my body.

I would look at myself in the mirror and say that there was no way I was going to do a bunch of pushups. It would be tough to follow a fitness plan at all because of the shape that I was in. Without exercise, I could not accomplish my goals. There was something I could do if I looked hard enough. I was able to finally do something.

I started walking around the block after dinner. It did not seem like much at first, but it was difficult. As time went by I was able to lengthen the distance and time that I spent walking. I started carrying hand weights during my walks. I could see some results on the scale. At some point I was able to start jogging. The weight disappeared faster. My plan was working.

It took a while but I was healthy enough to enter a 10K event. I was able to cross the finish line although I was not first. It is hard to believe that a year before, I could barely walk around the block. It took me a long time to learn that I could do something about my weight.
