Trans Fatty Acids: How To Avoid The Heart Attack Culprits

Trans fat kill, there is no longer any doubt here. Solid research from Harvard has clearly shown that no level of trans fat intake is safe.

Even more horrific is that fact that many food products still have trans fat hidden inside of them.

Thus, here are 5 ways to keep trans fats from killing you:

1. Be careful with processed foods: Processed foods, especially those that have a very high shelf life, are more likely to have trans fats. Things like chips, crackers, pies, cookies, popcorn, among many others, are likely to have trans fats. So try to avoid these packaged foods as much as possible.

2. Do not read the nutrition label: There is a loophole that many companies are using. In a nutshell, if a product contains less than half a gram of trans fat per serving, a company can say its product has zero trans fats. Thus, all they have to do is decrease the serving size until they can claim zero trans fats.

3. Always read the ingredients list: This is the best way to make sure there aren’t any trans fats in your food. After all, companies have to list everything that is in their product on the ingredients list. Luckily, this means that even if they are taking advantage of the zero trans fat loophole, you can still tell what’s in your food.

4. Stay away from fast food joints as much as possible: Fast food is one of the most damaging things you can put in your body. Most fast food joints have insane amounts of trans fats in their products. So make sure you stay away as much as possible here.

5. Use healthy margarines if you need to: If you have to have a spread in your diet then rest assured that there are many good products with no trans fats. However, there are also a lot of products with trans fats. So stick with trusted brands like smart balance.

Trans fats are absolutely horrible for the human body. So take advice here now rather than later so that you don’t suffer the negative health consequences.
