Avoiding the Common Cold

When you need to stay healthy, every person understands how important it is to get enough Vitamin C. You have almost certainly been told again and again and again precisely how important Vitamin C is to your health. What’s the first thing you’re told after you get a cold? “Eat something with Vitamin C!” Now, though, there has been some little bit of speculation about whether or not Vitamin C is actually beneficial in preventing the common cold.

You’ve heard of Echinacea by now. The primary idea behind Echinacea is, if you take it once you feel the first few cold symptoms, you will be able to keep that cold from setting in. Not too long ago, however, studies have proven that Echinacea provides little more than a placebo effect for anyone suffering from cold and flu symtoms. At best, the product will reduce the length of the cold by twenty hours. It is not a cure.

How can you keep the colds from getting the better of a person? Here are several hints that will help you.

1. Clean the hands. Wash both hands a lot. This is probably the most effective and most surefire ways to really ward off a common cold. Why does this process do the job as well as it does? Give the idea some thought. Your hands will enter into contact with flu and cold bacterias than any other part of your body. Have you ever previously thought about every little thing you touch throughout the day? Every time you touch something that has already been touched by someone with the flu, you grow your chances of getting sick. If you clean your hands a lot, you will be far less likely to let any of the microbes that you have made contact with get into your system and grab hold.

2. Get a lot of rest. Staying up late is often extremely tempting, specifically when your life is tense. Perhaps you have a lot more work to get accomplished. Perhaps you want to see your pals more often. Maybe there’s a television show you’ve been longing to catch. Doing this, on the other hand, significantly reduces the rest you receive. Rest will help your whole body find the energy to drive back infections that want to hurt you. When you are sleeping and asleep the body has a chance to do maintenance and make repairs. The more rest you get, the easier it’s going to be for the body to defend against infection and get rid of it before it really has a chance to latch on.

3. Keep hydrated. Your body requires at least eight eight ounce glasses of drinking water every day to be healthy. Keeping correctly hydrated is what will help your system flush toxins out. If you aren’t properly hydrated, germs just stick around instead of getting flushed out. Keep in mind: it is possible to go at least seven days without having solid food before you die. Without h2o, you may only last a day or two. Doesn’t this make the importance of suitable hydration hit home?

Here’s the thing: there isn’t a mysterious cure for the flu. What you can do, however, is practice common sense, clean your hands a lot, get sufficient rest each night and stay properly hydrated.
