The Popularity Of Curry In Various Nations

Before the emergence of the big British Empire, the natives in Sri Lanka referred to ‘curry’ as ‘kari’. This tasty sauce that was taken along side rice. After the emergence of Britain, the whole setting of many foods changed a great deal due to the fact that the Britons came up with a wide range of dishes to supplement man’s diet.

All around the globe, many people have termed any dish that has hot soup as curry. Take an example of; Malaysian curry, Jamaican curry and African curry plus many more.

Many countries have a similar way of preparing the curry dish by using the same ingredients. This however doesn’t mean that the way of cooking is the same hence all they have in common is the spices. Once in a while, the Thais use coconut oil to make their curry although chili paper can be opted for most of the time.

The way the Thais prepare their curry is so different from the methods used by other countries. They use wet spices which are not cut into small pieces. This type of cooking is found all over Southeast Asia hence that’s how their tradition does it.

For the Indians, they opt for dry spices which are very fresh and they are cooked in their normal size to bring about a lovely meal. This clearly shows that the Thais’ way of cooking differs from the Indians’.

Curries made from Northern India are prepared after a mixture of wheat and flour is put together with onions for a period of 30 minutes.

I believe the Indians don’t consider the Thais’ way of cooking the curry because they think their method is much better. Even if its name is derived from the English dictionary, it can never stop them from making this lovely delicacy that is so much loved in their country.

Just because the stew is spiced with many ingredients, it never implies that the dish qualifies to be called curry. Thus, if you have been doing this thinking that you are enjoying a dish of curry, then you have been mistaken.
