Baby Care Tips For New Parents

Once the baby has been delivered it is now time for you to begin practicing all the careful practices you have been learning about taking care of a baby. Believe it or not this is a task that can be quite physically and mentally exhaustive especially if you are not prepared.

Something as simple as regularly feeding the baby and making sure that they always have clean diaper can take away a big chunk of a parent’s sleep and this has seen so many of them getting depressed or suffering from anxiety. There are a few tips here that you can use to avoid the same pitfalls while giving your baby the best care possible.

The top priority once you get your baby home is feeding. You will have to decide between the two options of bottle feeding or the natural breast feeding. If you decide to go with the latter then you should be aware that it will require you be very patient.

As a norm, you should breastfeed your baby after every two or three hours go by. Before you begin however it is highly recommended that you ask your doctor which is the best way to hold the baby.

Even while using a bottle you will still have to know which the safest way to hold the baby is. Holding the baby will not only make sure that they do not choke on the milk but a parental bond will also be created between the two of you.

One cannot claim to be taking good care of their baby if they are not bathing it. The first thing to do when you want to begin bathing your baby is to make sure there is no cold draught from your windows.

You also want to make sure that at no given time do you leave your baby all alone. This means that you will need to have everything you need in the bathroom close to you before you bring in the baby from its cot. If you do not have a thermometer to make sure the water is not too hot or too cold then you can use your elbow.

As for the bathing water, the temperature has to be lukewarm so that you do not burn or give the baby a cold. Use your elbow to check its temperature as it is more sensitive than using your finger. Make sure to handle the umbilical cord with great care until it is healed. Do not keep getting it wet or covering it in diaper.
