A Few Skin Care Tips

It does not matter if you are female or male. Keeping healthy skin is a vital part of a good health routine. Of course a glowing dermis adds to one’s good looks. But it may also be indicator of overall health. In many cases, problems affecting the dermis are signs of other health concerns, like melanoma. And you may know that it is the largest organ of the human body. With all of this in our minds, we can talk about some skin care tips to keep that organ in its best health.

The dermis is one of our best assets and should be protected when possible. It keeps our body thermostats working properly, preventing you from getting too cold or overheating. The moment you go outside, you will know whether it is humid or hot. It also acts as a guard against bacteria and viruses.

The sun is not your skin’s friend. Sure a bronzed body looks great, but it could come with a price. It can cause age spots, wrinkles, and freckles, not to mention dryness and, worse, cancer. Sunscreen and protective clothing are both good defenses against the sun’s harmful rays. Remember too, that the sun is at its most potent between ten in the morning and four in the afternoon.

Smoking can wreak havoc on this organ. It steals oxygen and nutrients, like vitamin A, from your dermis. It also increases the chances of wrinkles. Fibers that give your face its strength and elasticity are also imperiled by smoking.

Natural oils are important to the organ. But Harsh soaps and excessive exposure to water can strip these oils away. Limit time in baths and showers and select a mild soap for a smoother outer coat. When it is time to dry off, do so with gentle pats and not rubbing actions. This will help keep in some moisture.

These are not difficult steps. And they will all do at least a little to give you that healthy glow.
