Aside from the cabbage soup, the dieter can eat all fruits except bananas as much as necessary. On day two, a baked potato with butter and low calorie vegetables are allowed. Day three is cabbage soup, fruits and vegetables day. The dieter can eat six to eight bananas on the fourth day plus the diet soup and all you can drink skim milk. Returning to a more normal diet starts on the fifth day, when the dieter eats 15 to 20 ounces of beef, chicken or fish with six tomatoes and the cabbage soup. For the last day of the diet, the soup, brown rice, fruit juice and vegetables are eaten.

The disadvantages of the cabbage soup diet are mainly focused on the nutrient deficiency that it causes. Some people complain of dizziness, migraine, extreme hunger and other such conditions. This diet soup is extremely restrictive and may be harmful to one’s health. Before trying it, checking with your physician would be wise.
