Acne can become a serious problem when you are trying to get in shape. It feeds on sweat, oil and grime on your skin.
Unfortunately, exercise increases the amount food that acne bacteria can feed on.
Thus, here are some tips for keeping your skin clean:
1. Don’t delay taking a shower: The faster you shower the less time acne has to feed on all the materials lying on your skin. So try to clean your body soon after your workout. The last thing you want to do is come home and fall asleep.
2. Don’t rub your forehead while exercising: If you do this, you are more at risk for developing pimples on your forehead. And nobody likes to have pimples on their forehead. Instead, use a towel or a sterile wipe to clean sweat off your forehead.
3. Shower before you exercise: This is especially important if you exercise later in the day since your body will already have a large amount of dirt and oil on it. By showering before exercise, you will clean your skin and avoid pushing dirt deeper into your pores.
4. Don’t reuse shirts: Use a fresh shirt every time you are going to exercise or any other time for that matter. By reusing shirts you will simply spread the acne bacteria and create a higher chance for outbreaks to proliferate.
5. Constantly wash any exercise accessories: If you use weight lifting straps, pads or any type of bodily garment, make sure you wash them frequently. Otherwise, the dirt, oil, and bacteria will start to build up and you are more likely to get pimples.
6. Don’t overdo the cleaning after your workout: Make sure you use a mild cleanser after your workout. If you use something harsh and acidic, it could leave your skin extremely irritated. You might even break out with smaller, reddish pimples.
You don’t have to suffer from acne when you are embarking on a fitness program. As long as you are a little more vigilant with your hygiene, you should be fine.
