Weight Loss Side Effects – Can It Be Dangerous?

More and more people these days want to lose weight and look slim and fit. They employ a million different ways to lose weight and hence consider themselves fitness freaks. But there is also a negative side to this whole episode. Weight loss is not always good for human body. Weight loss can also get disastrous when a person struggles to adjust to his or her weight loss regime.

However, it is considered to be more disadvantageous for women. In women the metabolism is very slow and hence losing weight for them is a real challenge. They need to do many things to increase their metabolism while losing weight. But weight loss sometimes can get fuzzy for both men and women as it can affect a person both mentally and physically.

One of the most common side effects of weight loss is the fact that the person becomes very grumpy. Depression can also be a result of rapid weight loss. Extreme carbohydrate reduction in the body can cause many problems. During weight loss programs, carbohydrates are reduced and low carbohydrate diets are consumed.

These diets can strain the liver and force your body to search for fuel from other sources. Carbohydrates produce serotonin which is a kind of brain chemical which is responsible for improving overall emotional state and mood. A person with very low carbohydrate content in his body can lose his temper or get upset in no time.

Some diets can also restrict a person from consuming dietary fats resulting in irregular periods. These fats are very closely linked to the creation of the female hormone estrogen. This particular thing controls the regular period timing and duration of a person’s periods. Such problems can be avoided by not restricting yourself from eating the healthy fats. Foods with healthy fats should be included in the weight-loss-diet no matter how rigorous the diet plan is. Simply avoiding fat in food will not result in any miracle; your body will rather start storing fat which can again cause a problem in your body.

Stretch marks are another issue when it comes to losing weight. When the skin on our muscles expands and contracts, it leaves stretch marks on the skin. With weight loss the natural elastin and collagen breaks down and leaves scars and stretch marks on the body. Proper fluid intake should be maintained and that will ensure that stretch marks are less visible.
