This is one of the reasons that the ten thousand step approach has become famous. The ten thousand step system is founded on the idea that walking ten thousand steps every day can help you get healthy-that it helps cut down on the amount of time you have to spend at the gym. Walking is a excellent, low impact, workout. How often have you heard “if he’d merely taken a walk around the block now and then?”
Obviously walking ten thousand steps each day won’t be simple. That’s a whole lot! The best part is that you almost certainly already take nearly all of those steps each day already and don’t know it yet. What you’ll want to do is learn how to incorporate one or two more thousand steps to get to the goal. So how do you make it happen without resorting to simply strolling back and forth all day?
Increasing your step count can be done easily using these obvious methods. Use the stairs instead of the elevator–that’s pretty basic. Parking at the far end of the parking lot is also a good idea at the mall or the store.
Keep your vehicle in one spot and walk your bags and boxes out to the car after you finish shopping in each store instead of just carrying more and more things with you as you run your errands and go shopping. Choosing public transit is excellent because it includes a walk to and from a bus or train stop which is great for increasing your step count. The greatest way to do it, of course, is to just take a short walk each day.
You could also boost the quantity of steps you take by using some less than obvious methods. Plan a market shopping list differently. Lots of folks arrange their lists according to the aisles in their stores. Instead, plan your list directly into individual categories like produce, dairy and meat. Then go shopping in accordance with the order of the list. You may possibly wind up making many trips back and forth across the store, but it is a great way to raise your step count. Instead of getting a mail box inside your door or attached to your home, mount it on a post close to the curb. This may put a minimum of one or two dozen steps to your count while you check the mail each day.
There are a lot of approaches to build your step count. As you become familiar with walking 10,000 steps each day you’ll come up with plenty of creative ways to get to that number.
The best thing relating to this idea is that every single step you take during the day counts toward your goal whether they are on treadmills or to the bathroom and back. Try to have fun with your project!
