Calorie counting is big these days, but it is my bet that those calorie counters are struggling with their weight. Why? Because they have not addressed the true reason why they are overweight! It is more about the quality of the calories you eat each day, rather than the amount of calories you eat. Get this under control and you will see a major shift in your weight.
Once people realize that I have figured out my weight loss issues, many ask “how many calories should I eat a day?” What I tell them is that “don’t worry about it!” I tell them that what is important is the quality of calories you eat. Just think about it! 300 calories from fruits and vegetables are going to be much healthier for you than 300 calories from a greasy hamburger or fries. Or, 300 calories from soft drinks and a candy bar, compared to 300 calories from some raw nuts.
Losing 1-3 pounds a week is best. I know you want to lose weight quicker, but if you do, you risk losing more muscle than fat, plus it is not healthy for your skin to lose weight quickly. To lose one pound you need a calorie difference of 3500 calories over a period of one week.
If you are looking to lose 1 pound a week, then on average, you need to either burn 500 more calories a day than what you consume, or you need to eat 500 less calories each day than what you burn. Of course this also depends on your age, your gender, your height and weight, the type of calories you eat, etc. One size does not fit all with this equation.
You can spend hours trying to figure all of this stuff out, but the gist of it all is to simply eat healthy calories and get proper constant exercise. If you simply do these two simple things correctly, you will be able to easily adjust your intake of calories to lose as much weight as you wish without hassling with all of the above calculations.
It wasn’t until I quit with the diet mindset and I switched to just eating healthier, did I figure out weight loss. When you eat properly and you get some exercise on a daily basis, losing weight just becomes automatic. The excess weight just melts away. Most importantly, the stress of losing weight is gone. The shackles have been removed and You finally feel free. What a wonderful feeling!
