My Story as a Secret Shopper for Men Skin Care Goods
I’m not into color palettes and incense. I absolutely believe that no man toys will need instruction manuals and I don’t mind a power tool as Christmas gift.
So what I’m saying, is that if you gotta call me something, you can call me a masculine man. I work hard but play harder, and drink beer with every food I eat.
But not too long ago, I started to notice something that I couldn’t ignore any longer – my own face. It absolutely was growing older. It was like all of a sudden, the years just caught up with me.
This isn’t about having pretty boy looks. It’s about making it in a competitive world. I do not like to look old and tired. I really cannot afford to be left behind because of my face. Would you? I just want to look good – I want to get ahead of everybody, nothing more!
The Drug Store Problem
I finally decided to do a plan. So I go to the drug store. BIG. MISTAKE. Have you looked for men’s skin care products there lately? I totally missed it the first time. The men’s skin care products selection was so skimpy it could fit in a shoe box. This made me decide to go to the women’s beauty section. I figured if anybody looked at me funny, I’d just mumble something about picking an item for my girlfriend. EVEN. BIGGER. MISTAKE. I’ve been in airports that were less confusing. Row after row of skinc are products, all of them claiming stuff that made me even more confused than when I started. Do I really want to try these girly products on my face? No thanks.

I decided to go to the department stores at the mall. It was hard. Many familiar people are out there somewhere . Any one of them, or their wives, girlfriends, or hell, even their kids could see me at one of those fancy-schmancy beauty counters.
I knew that I couldn’t leave empty-handed, though. Mindlessly, I grabbed a serum, a moisturizer, toner, facial cleanser, and night cream and charge my credit card with a few hundred dollars (yeah, you heard that right), and run as fast as I can out of that place.
It was a Nightmare
All that stuff was a nightmare. I totally messed up everything and forgot which one is for day and which product is for night. So I applied all of them randomly (I mean, the more stuff, the quicker my wrinkles go away right?). But all that stuff just made my face feel oilier and dirtier, so I washed it all out.
My hope was in the super expensive eye cream that I thought would justify its price, right? Nope. All it did was disappear right before my eyes.
But here is the most interesting. Remember that face scrub? It was like cleansing my face with gravel – no, with bits of broken glass. My face was so red when it was done, that I looked like a boiled lobster…and felt like one, too. I was hoping it will remove the dead skin cells, but it seems to get rid of all my skin cells.
So like I said, it was a disaster. Instead of coming out appearing like a celebrity, I came out looking like some guy who just squandered a couple of hundred dollars, hours of my own time, and was a boiled lobster.
I was really disappointed.
