How To Ensure Your Child Has Proper Handwriting

Sometimes it is hard when you see that your child’s handwriting is not how it should be, if it has been rushed it could look quite messy.

We tend to use handwriting more than we think during the course of our day, so it is imperative that it can be read.

If one of your kids is bad with their handwriting, then this could make their grades in school worse that what they should be. Sometimes this can be down to the fact that the teacher is unable to read exactly what they have written, but there is a solution!

I was once advised that once I left junior high I would have to start to write in cursive writing. Then when I was in high school I was told that cursive writing would be used in college, alas none of this happened.

It does not matter in the slightest what sort of writing your child is doing, if at the end of the day you cannot read it properly. If this is the case you really need to find out what is causing their handwriting to be so bad, sometimes they are just too lazy to write properly, but other times they may have a problem with the writing of certain letters. Once you find the root cause of the problem, then you can start to help them to cure it.

Try to help your kids by allotting time after school to learn to write properly. Maybe this could be done alongside any existing homework. Try to go over any letters that they have a problem with, as 15 -20 minutes a day should be sufficient.

Maybe the problem is in the way that they are holding their pen or pencil? It may be causing them to feel uncomfortable when they write; this in turn could make them rush their writing. Make sure that the pen is gripped with the forefinger and thumb, and with the middle finger supporting the pen.

Try to get your child to write letters in a notebook, and make sure that they are writing the letters correctly.

Your child will have a better chance of success at school if you can teach them to write properly now.
