Silk’n SensEpil Products Review

How many of you out there like having to fork out thousands of dollars every year or two for laser hair removal? Worse yet, hundred dollar wax treatments, or having to shave your legs every few days to keep them silky smooth — just to have them get stubbly again 12 hours later? Not many of you likely answered yes to either of those questions. I recently had the privilege to try a home solution called the Silk’n SensEpil portable hair removal system.

I was skeptical to say the least, as anything that claims to give the same results as laser treatment, that can be used by anybody in their own home…sounds a little misleading. So I got my Silk’n SensEpil and got to work, to see what it could do.

Silk’n has a reputation for FDA approved, hair removal devices, so that made me feel a little better and I must also say that the product itself is pretty handy. I would compare it to any electric powered hair trimmer, or shaver in its dimensions. Sorry, I got a little side tracked there, on to the test run…

I got the Silk’n SensEpil out of the package, plugged it in, and then got the instructional video out (I know: nobody uses those things, but I always do for safety reasons). The video started by telling me about the device, how it worked to remove hair and that it would take approximately 3 – 4 sessions for most people to completely remove their hair (The reason it takes so long is because you have to target the hair, just like if you were tweezing, so it can become a bit of a marathon trying to get each hair in one session). After watching the video, I started on my legs, as leg hair is less thick than pubic hair and I wanted to see how effective it was before moving on to tougher spots.

The light on the Silk’n SensEpil is designed to put out 750 pulses every few seconds, and I can’t say I counted the pulses — but that sucker really knocked the hair out. One major concern I had before starting was whether it would be painful to use…it really wasn’t painful, it kind of felt like my skin was getting warm in the areas I was targeting, however, it wasn’t warm enough that I could say it would burn my skin, even if I left it in one area for very long.

So along I went, knocking out one hair after another with the Silk’n SensEpil for about an hour. After an hour, I had finished both of my legs below the knees and packed it in for the night. Call me crazy, but you do need to spend some time with this process, as after an hour it’s pretty exhausting concentrating and holding onto the light.

Flash forward to a few weeks later…I’m still doing treatments with the Silk’n SensEpil, but the hair growth is really reduced. It gives you the same hair reduction as hour of tweezing would, with the comfort you would get with pricey laser treatments. I can easily see how this little magic wand will make my life easier.
