Spray Tanning At The Salon – The Safe Tanning Solution

We are all aware of the dangers of suntanning in natural sunlight. Premature ageing and skin cancer have made it impossible to achieve that lovely healthy glow that a tan gives you, without putting yourself at risk. If you do tan in natural sunlight, it can take weeks, as you have to wear loads of sunscreen and develop your tan very slowly in order to prevent skin cancer. Now, new technology has given us spray tanning at the salon – the safe tanning solution.

When sunbeds were first introduced, they were seen as the answer to suntanning’s woes. Now you could tan all year round, winter or summer. However, the UV lights used in sunbeds are now known emit the same harmful rays as the sun, with the same effect on our skin. Self-tan lotions were the next best thing, allowing you to apply ‘fake’ tan on whatever parts of your body you wanted tanned. However, most of them turn a delicate shade of orange once applied, and if you don’t get the application absolutely even, you end up with streaks or blotches.

Spray tanning at the salon removes all these obstacles. It is safe, as no UV lights are used. It is evenly applied by one of two methods, so it looks natural. You can also get an all-over tan, useful if you’re heading to an exotic location where topless bathing is de rigeur. The spray tanning process takes place in a spray booth. The booth may be equipped with airbrush nozzles that spray the tanning lotion from all directions at once to give you even, all-over coverage. You can ‘mask off’ areas you do not want tanned if required. A thin, paler line strategically placed can look like a tan line – a clever way to make your spray tan look even more natural.

Sometimes a technician uses a portable spray machine to apply the lotion evenly across your whole body. A well trained technician will provide natural areas of lighter and darker coverage to ensure that the result looks as natural as possible. Whichever method your salon uses, you can rest assured that you will get an all-over, even, natural-looking suntan that has none of the detrimental effects of other tanning methods.

The one drawback is that spray tanning at a salon is a short-term solution. Much like self-applied lotions, the colour fades quite quickly, lasting only about 7 days. This is however, long enough for you to glow at a special occasion such as a wedding or business function. It is also enough time to take you on summer vacation – by the time it starts fading you’ll have built up your natural tan safely and gradually using loads of sunscreen anyway. Bathing and swimming often may cause the tan to fade quicker.

Unlike the other options available at present, spray tanning at the salon will give you healthy glow, safely. It will look more natural as it is applied evenly, is not dangerous to your health or skin, and the results are really excellent. It may not be the cheapest suntanning option available, but spray tanning is definitely the safest way to achieve a natural glow.
