Tips To Find Fat Burning Foods On Vacation

When ever I go away on holiday I always find it challenging to stick to my healthy diet. Firstly, it can be very difficult to find fat burning foods when you’re in a strange town or a foreign country. And then there is always the risk that you’ll go off the rails and revert to eating junk food.

So here are a few tips to help you find healthy foods when you go on vacation.

Grilled Is Best

Don’t just shelve your good habits when you go on vacation. Or you’ll be sure to shelve your lean physique too! Delicious and satisfying foods are available wherever you go, and you don’t need to sacrifice nutritional value either.

With that in mind keep your eyes open for grilled meats and fish and stay away from fried foods.

If you’re visiting a coastal town or city the chances are that there will be an endless supply of fresh seafood. If you’re heading inland then it is more likely that red meat and poultry will dominate the menu.

Just remember to use your experience when choosing your meals. Would you prepare a meal this way? If not then it’s probably a good idea to make another choice.

Eat Local Produce

In my experience, the smaller local restaurants really pull out the stops to showcase their local produce. Most of them will deal with local producers and suppliers, meaning the majority of their food will be natural, fresh and flavorsome!

Local chefs know how to treat their food to get the maximum taste on your plate. Traditional cooking methods, seasoning and accompaniments are usually much healthier than the convenience food equivalent.

However, fast food chains are known for sourcing low quality, mass produced foods. And preparing them in an unhealthy way.

Don’t be afraid to ask the waiter to leave out certain ingredients from your food if they don’t fit in with your nutritional program. And don’t be afraid to leave any “nasty” bits uneaten.

Fat Burning Snacks

Whether you’re out on the road, on a day trip or laying on a beach somewhere you are going to get hungry at some point.

But when you’re in unfamiliar surroundings it can be hard to find a place to eat. And if you do, you’re only choice might be an ice cream stall and a greasy diner!

Enter the fat burning snack!

As you’ll probably know from my blog, mixed nuts are a big part of my diet. Hardly surprising then that I always travel with them when I can.

Whether it is sightseeing or the beach, these little guys are easy to pack and store. And they’re light too! Always ready for a quick hunger fighting snack.

Fresh fruit is also a good option for snacking on-the-go. It’s a little more vulnerable than mixed nuts, but if you go for fruit with a skin then you should be OK. I usually take some fruit from the hotel at breakfast and carry it with me when I go out on a day trip.

The best options are bananas, apples, oranges, kiwi etc.

Enjoy Yourself

Remember that you are on vacation to enjoy yourself. And life is too short not to enjoy the occasional treat!

If desserts are your vice then you should be allowed to indulge a little while you’re away. I’ve got a very sweet tooth, so if I see something I like then I’ll go for it. And why shouldn’t you?

But don’t go thinking that you can get away with eating a dessert with every meal! Remember what refined sugar does to you; it leaves you feeling bloated, lethargic, sluggish, not to mention it puts your body into fat storage mode!

I guess my final tip would be to trust yourself and your food choices. By sticking to your nutritional program you won’t be craving junk foods.

What ever else you do, don’t get wound up and worried about the food you’re eating. You can’t influence the food preparation at all, and no holiday diet is ever going to be perfect! Just make sure you enjoy yourself and your time away. By following the advice above you can come home in just as good a shape as when you left.
