If you’re sick of those love handles and you’re ready to commit to a new diet, you may be thinking of adopting the newest fad diet or workout routine. However, these plans are actually unnecessary for losing weight; you’d be much better off simply focusing on burning more calories and reducing your intake through food. Find the right balance between the two, and you’ll find your extra weight disappearing.
You can start burning calories very early in the morning by going for your daily workout soon after you wake up. Eat a small meal such as a nutrition bar or some fruit, and then do some cardio, such as jogging.
The advantage of exercising very early in the morning is that you’ll be done with your workout for the whole day, so you won’t have to worry about getting it done after work or school. You can make cardio a more enjoyable experience by bringing along a portable MP3 player or inviting a friend to be your exercise buddy.
You may be surprised to learn that eating more frequently can actually help you lose weight! By spreading your food intake into smaller, but more frequent meals, you’ll be keeping your metabolism active and avoiding the dreaded between-meal fatigue that often causes us to overeat.
In addition to consuming more frequent meals, you should get at least one serving of vegetables each day. Additional servings would be beneficial, but we all know how difficult it can be to eat healthy throughout the day. Two servings of a lean protein, such as chicken, will satisfy your hunger without leaving you feeling too full. You’ll have more energy instead of feeling lethargic.
This doesn’t mean that you have to give up your favorite guilty pleasures forever. It’s okay to indulge in ice cream or pizza once in awhile. Just make sure that these fattening foods don’t become a staple of your diet and you’ll find that you can enjoy them occasionally with few negative consequences.
As you become accustomed to your new diet, allow your body some time to adjust as well. Pretty soon you’ll be saving hundreds of calories a day and the pounds will just melt off. You’ll notice your slimmer body in the mirror and you’ll feel healthier as well.
The key to maintaining a diet and exercise plan is consistency. You may not see immediate results, but stay dedicated and you’ll surely reap the benefits of your weight loss plan.
