Carbohydrates are one of the most misunderstood macronutrients. And for good reason: there is lots of money to be made selling diets and controversial systems.
So, without further ado, here is why carbs can destroy dieting:
1. Nervous system functioning: Without carbs, not only will your brain not function properly, but your mood will decrease as well. You see, your brain needs a steady and constant supply of blood sugar to operate the right way.
2. Decreased EPOC: This is basically a situation where a lack of carbs decreases workout intensity. And without workout intensity, you can get the full effect from exercise post oxygen consumption, a state in which your body burns an excess of calories outside of your workouts.
3. Carbs are needed for the Krebs cycle: This cycle is the process by which your body produces energy and burns fat. If you have a diet deficient in carbohydrates, you could be decreasing the effectiveness of the Krebs cycle to burn fat.
4. Muscle cannibalism: Without carbs, your body seeks out energy in a frenzied state. And amidst this frenzy, it eats its own muscle tissue like sharks eating a bait ball of fish. So make sure you eat carbs so that your body doesn’t release its sharks on your muscle tissue.
5. More bad cholesterol: Carbohydrates have different types of fiber that help clear out bad cholesterol from your system. And bad cholesterol worsens circulation. Unfortunately, poor circulation compromises fat loss because you can recover as well and you can’t burn fat as fast.
6. Less definition: One of the worst aspects of no carb dieting is the effect it has on how your body looks. When you take out carbs, your muscles become dehydrated which in turn makes them loose and flaccid. Essentially, you lose almost all muscle tone.
Taking out carbs from your diet is unnecessary and painful. So make sure you take action on this advice now, because information that isn’t acted upon is always forgotten!
