An anti snore ring is a ring with two pressure balls (prongs) that is usually worn on the left hand (the hand being closest to the heart) and positioned between the knuckle and first joint. Makers could manufacture the anti snoring ring differently, but it is often made of sterling silver. Underside of the finger are two pressure points that receive some acupressure from the two prongs. The pressure points are linked to the nose, ear, and throat through the meridian channel of the heart. Often adjustable to some extent, these rings are made to fit on almost any finger of any size.
Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine dating back about 5,000 years. According to this Chinese medical practice, one could stimulate the meridian through these pressure points by re-balancing the opposing ‘yin and yang’ forces and the ‘chi’ energy flow.
An anti snore ring’s purpose is to apply pressure on the small intestine and heart meridians, which are paired organs that act in conjunction with each other. The calming effect is brought about by clearing the flow of energy, which is achieved by the pressure. This helps to improve breathing and prevent snoring at the same time.
The snorer should have this ring on thirty minutes before they sleep, and should keep it on until morning. It is not usually recommended to wear the ring more than 12 hours in a single day. Having said this, anti snore rings remain a natural remedy and so they are safe to use as unlike drugs, they have no side effects.
Now, about how effective anti snoring rings really are for snorers… well, that isn’t quite so clear. Manufacturers claim that some people may notice the reduced snoring as from day one, while for others it might take up to three days for the ring to start making effect. Some folks who wear the ring indeed claim that their snoring is reduced and their sleeping improved with it. Of others, of course it’s a placebo effect – a psychological thing that links the results to wearing the ring. Unfortunately other people state that wearing an anti snore ring does not help them in any way with their snoring problem.
