A whitened teeth makes one smile brighter. One becomes embarrassed if one has yellow stained teeth making smile less vibrant than what it should be.
Early in the course of life, everyone has clean sparkling white teeth. This is attributed to the enamel covering that protects the teeth from damage from all the chewing and gnawing when eating. Soon, this whitened teeth becomes yellow stained and cracks, filled with debris and dirt, begin to show up. These problems are nothing that can be fixed by professionals through a procedure known as teeth whitening.
Stains on the external surface of the teeth are called extrinsic stains. These are one of the many stains known and they affect only the external aspect of the teeth and not the internal ones. It must be kept in mind that these stains are only minor but must be dealt in quickly so as to prevent further staining and even being ingrained in the teeth. Dealing with this problem is easy and can be done even at home, by regularly brushing the teeth. Other extrinsic stains are very adamant that special procedures such as bleaching of the teeth must be done.
Stains found in the interior surface of the teeth are called intrinsic stains. These stains are more stern and harder to remove as compared to the extrinsic ones. Aging, teeth trauma and overexposure to fluoride are just some of the many causes of these stains. Brushing one’s teeth and having it bleached may be done but proves to be very hard to do. There are ways to treat this major dental problem but they are hard and often long procedures which could last from a few months reaching up to a year.
In-office whitening is the best dental option in achieving a whitened teeth in such a short span of time. Despite being expensive, there is an assurance of effectiveness and safety as dental health professionals cater to these procedures. These dentists, after protecting the gums, apply a high concentration of peroxide to a portion of the teeth and leaving it there for a minimum of twenty minutes t a maximum of an hour. This procedure is usually repeated and done every other day for optimal results.
If treatment at home is desired, there are available whitening kits that can be used. These can be commercially bought or given by the dentists themselves. Generally, the kit contains a gel that can be put in the mouth guard provided and be placed in the mouth leaving it there overnight. These are quite effective but will probably take a longer time. These kits are often desired because of the lesser expense and the more convenience it brings.
In doing these kinds of treatments, risks are almost always present. These include temporary sensitivity to pressure and touch lasting for days up to months, gum irritation attributed to gel contact on them and finally uneven color of the teeth which is usually caused by procedures done by oneself.
These teeth whitening treatments are offered by different dentists all around. By merely contacting them and consulting these problems of stains can be resolved and thus a more vibrant smile can be achieved.
