Lethargy makes a human being miserable. Few things are worse than struggling to stay awake at work, failing, and being reprimanded by your boss for sleeping on the job. At the end of day, you have just enough energy to collapse on the bed and start the cycle all over again the next day. Establish a regular time that you will go to sleep and a time you will wake up. Ignore the lazy bum in you that wants to hit the snooze button when the alarm goes off; get out of bed and start your day. If you start a cycle of healthy rest and activity, your body will get use to it and will begin feeling much more peppy than if you sleep irregular hours.

Spacing out your meals and keep the portion sizes small can also bring you tremendous amounts of energy. Eating six times a day instead of three, and making sure those meals are healthy, will balance out your energy levels and keep you at a consistent rate of activity.

The body likes regularity, so these meals should also be eaten at the same times. If not, you will experience highs and lows as opposed to a constant flow of energy.

Exercise can boost your energy as well. Put down the TV remote and take a walk in the afternoon; it gets your heart rate up and makes you feel pumped.

Many people need some type of motivation to exercise. Get a workout buddy or try listening to some inspiring music. The theme to Rocky might be fun to use.

If you don’t get enough sleep, none of the tips above will help at all. You have to get at least eight hours of sleep to be able to function at 100 percent. And restless sleep doesn’t count; in fact, tossing and turning is known for making people more tired than no sleep at all.
