Many people find it astonishing as to how vegetarians are able to adapt an entirely different lifestyle. Of course, there is no single answer to this question since vegetarians choose to make this switch for quite a number of reasons.
However, a vast majority of vegetarians state that they choose to make this switch for at least one of three reasons.
First of all, most vegans claim that eating meat can be unethical. For example, chickens are debeaked, forced to live in small, confined spaces, and are often killed when they don’t produce eggs soon enough. For vegans, this is a very inhumane way of obtaining food.
Most vegetarians also find it bothersome to have animals live in such crowded and stressful environments. The fact that most of these animals are fed with hormone-laden feed doesn’t help either.
Vegans draw such ethical boundaries depending on their personal beliefs. For instance, some strict vegans won’t even consume yeast, wear wool, or eat vegetables that require killing the plant source upon harvest.
On the other hand, some vegans, also referred to as pseudo-vegans, actually think that it’s okay to eat fish and chicken on a regular basis.
The second reason that vegans claim for ditching meat altogether is the fact that it simply conflicts with their dietary preferences. Believe it or not, there are just some people who simply do not appreciate the taste of meat. Then again, there are those who stay away from meat due to various health concerns. People suffering from high cholesterol tend to eliminate meat from their daily food intake.
The third reason that vegans cite is the fact that eating meat can harm the environment. Their main argument is that the consumption of meat causes farmers to continually deforest land in order to create grazing land for cattle.
The ones mentioned above are just a few of the reasons that make vegetarians opt for such a lifestyle. But in truth, there are a lot other sensible reasons why one may choose not to have meat in their diet.
