Every year, the U.S. alone spends billions and billions of dollars on supplements. Yet, the great majority of them don’t even work. Unfortunately, it’s a very loosely regulated industry.
In fact, you could start your own supplement company with minimal effort.
So, without further ado, here are some supplements that do work and won’t damage your health:
1. Caffeine: Of all the safe supplements you can take, this will have the most immediate and powerful impact. It does a great job at mobilizing fatty acids, reducing fatigue and increasing power output. This all happens via an enhanced secretion of stress hormones from your adrenals.
2. Powdered protein: There is only one time when taking supplemental protein is optimal for the average person, right after exercise. During this time you need nutrition badly, yet you don’t get hungry because of increased body temperature.
3. Powdered carbohydrates: Similar to the situation with powdered protein, having some right after exercise is a great way to overcome the heat induced lack of hunger. Just make sure you don’t rely on powdered protein or carbs as meal replacements.
4. Omega-3 pills: Now keep in mind that too much of anything can have serious health consequences, and omega-3 fats are no exception here. In fact, if you chronically have too much, you can increase oxidation in your heart. So please do not take fish oil if omega-3’s are already in your diet.
5. Multivitamin: Consumption of multivitamin supplements is recommended by Harvard University and has been shown to reduce chronic disease. They key here is to not over-supplement with exorbitant amounts of nutrients here. Don’t take multivitamins with more than 100% daily value of anything.
Although most supplements are ineffective, there are a select few that can make arm sculpting a little easier. Just remember that supplements are not going to do all the work for you. So proceed with moderation here!
