Pretty much every single person I coach either in my office or on the phone asks me about the fruit juice diet. They are keen to know the quickest route to achieve their personal weight loss goals, and they have heard about the wonderful results that juice fasting is able to provide. Many years of results has convinced me that juice fasting is by far and away the best thing that anyone can do if they want to supercharge their overall health and well-being. In addition it is certainly the fastest road to speedy weight loss and the body you’ve dreamed of. However, simply fasting of fruit on its own or going on a diet that only includes fruit juice is something that could prove problematic.
The truth of the matter is that, while the natural health benefits that are significant, fruit contains a large amount of natural sugar and, unlike vegetables, is best eaten with fibers intact. The reason why a juice fast is so powerful is simply because when you juice a vegetable or a fruit you will have removed the bulk, or fiber, and from the area that provides nutrition – the juice. You then simply consume the nutritive part of the plant, the part that contains the nutrients your body needs, and allows you to receive all of this without spending all the energy that is necessary to break down the food on it’s own. This energy will be freed for your body to begin cleansing. It is similar to little brushes scrubbing away at your cells and removing the fat from your system.
In lieu of a fruit juice diet, I advise my clients to take in a rainbow variety of fresh juices on their fasts. This ensures all their nutrition is being taken care of for the day leaving them with maximum energy. While fruits such as apples can provide a great base for many juices, if consumed alone they spike the blood sugar which then drops shortly after leaving you with less energy than you had when you started. Obviously, this is not the effect we desire when we take on a juice fast.
If you do want to go on a juice fast then that’s great, but you do need to make sure that you add in greens such as watercress, kale, and spinach. These will be necessary when absorbing sugars into your system and preventing fluctuations in energy and blood sugar spikes.
Consider this following recipe if you want to share in my breakthrough fasting guide at www.breakthroughfasting.com.
Kate’s Green Dragon.
One or 2 green apples (or, if you prefer, any variety)
2 stalks celery
Half of a cucumber
3 handfuls of spinach or 2 handfuls of kale
A half or one lemon to taste (more if you like it sour like I do)
The point of combining different types of vegetables into the diet, especially greens, is to prevent blood sugar spikes and to keep your energy levels stable while you cleanse. At the same time you will be offering your body a huge variety of nutrition and this will help it to work harder in getting clean, healthy, and thin from within!
