A Positive Motivation – Breaking Free From A Dull Job

Everyone who is alive needs food for sustenance. And everyone who keeps on living also keeps on wanting. But if a person all of a sudden quits needing or wanting, what will then happen? Satisfaction is not the reason why he all of a sudden stops caring, but because he simply lost the motivation to go on.

At one period or another in our lives, we have all experienced that way. The motivation to perform or do anything is gone. The driving force is gone. And other than need, we feel that there’s no more cause to give our best performance in anything that we do. For a lot of people, this occurs at work. They go to work daily because they need the money, not because they enjoy doing so. Therefore, work becomes a load that they unenthusiastically take.

Motivation, once lost, is truly tough to get back, though we can certainly try. To regain the motivation in our lives, we can try taking steps towards it.

The first is to know the reason why you are doing it. If you have difficulty going to work, get a strong reason behind it. “To pay the bills” isn’t going to cut it because the reason isn’t for you, it’s for the utility companies that you need to pay. Think of your current work as your way to reaching something greater.

Maybe you are stuck in a tedious desk job because you are saving for a new vehicle or you are aspiring for a promotion. Picture yourself acquiring that goal. Put a picture of it on your desk where you can easily look at it. It will serve as a reminder and a motivation to give your best everyday.

And while you are still “stuck” behind your desk, think of something that can help pass the time. Invite colleagues to go bowling every Tuesday and even organize mini competitions. Maybe a hobbyist club appeals more to you. The thought is to actively get involved in something in your workplace other than your desk job and to meet and socialize with others also.

Another way to get motivated is by spreading something positive. You can do that by appreciating yourself and others. Praise the full team for their individual shares in a group work. Note that your own contribution was significant also for the success of the task. Recognizing people’s endeavors and skills empowers them to do their best. And when everyone feels motivated, positivity spreads.

Even if there are opportunities thrown your way, you won’t be able to realize them if you choose not to pay attention. You can prefer to be stuck in a seemingly dead end job or you can change your situation by taking action today. Remember, motivation starts from yourself.
