One of the most common ways to improve the look of your eyes is to wear false eyelashes. If you have never worn them before, here are a few tips for applying false eyelashes. It really is not that difficult so give it a try.
Although false eyelash application is not difficult, choose the most naturally looking lashes you can find to begin with. You can always make them look different by binding with mascara later. Try just using half strips of lashes, small clumps or individual lashes until you get used to them and before moving on the full strips lashes.
Always use clear glue and don’t be tempted to use the coloured versions, using the coloured glue may just look like wobbly eyeliner when the glue is dry. Squeeze a bit out onto a piece of spare plastic, like a bottle top. Then use a cocktail stick (or similar) to transfer a thin strip of glue to the base strip of the false lashes. Leave a few seconds until it becomes ‘tacky’. You may need to put a little extra on each end if using a full strip of lashes to provide extra security.
When applying false eyelashes, hold the lashes carefully and then firstly place to the outer corner of the eye and as close to your natural lashes as possible. A shaped eyeliner brush, or a cotton bud is useful to gently push down the strip into place. Keep patting the strip down until the lash stays there and then apply a little bit of eyeliner to conceal the strip. Finish off with mascara to bind the false lashes with your own.
Don’t pull your false lashes off without using the recommended solvent, or you could pull your own natural lashes out as well and possibly irritate the eye. Remove the false eyelashes carefully and gently. Try not to sleep in false eyelashes as you may find you have a nice set of red eyes in the morning; certainly not that attractive!
Keep your false eyelashes clean and in the box so they keep their shape and they will last you for quite a while.
Don’t be disheartened when applying false eyelashes if you can’t get it right straight away. Like many things, applying false eyelashes takes a bit of practice.
