Article Eleven: The HCG Protocol For Dieting

We just talked yesterday. We got the box. The orders were there and we talked about what it came with and how excited I was to get it. But I didn’t go into the whole “protocol” thing. Now it’s time to talk about it a bit.

It begins with a little information about the HCG diet (generally). It went over the basics outlining my (and probably your) negative relationship with food and the reasons for it (society, bad habits, convenience foods, etc).
Then it went over how following the HCG protocol for weight loss changes that relationship between the individual and food. It discusses the interactions of HCG with the body and how the lack of appropriate HCG levels the body creates the weight issues that are plaguing the country (enter the obesity epidemic).

It also outlines for us the way the HCG achieves weight loss. On some days there will be no marked weight loss but on other days there will be drastic weight drops. This is because the HCG and the 500 calorie diet result in fat being burned for current energy needs in the body. Fat being burned for energy results in empty fat cells. Empty fat cells are frequently filled with water until the tissue is eventually broken down. Bathroom trips while on the diet will be fairly frequent.

Helpful Hints and Products is another very useful section in the protocol book. I won’t rewrite the entire section, but I’ll point out a few to you that seemed important to me. #1: Watch the salt intake…it can result in water retention. #2: No lotion or moisturizer…the skin will absorb the fat/oil. #3: Try some buffalo meat…it’s an interesting lean protein.

Interesting, right? I haven’t ever tried buffalo meat. Maybe it’s time I gave it a try. It’s not a huge deal. If I can’t find it…I can always stick to the other approved, lean proteins on the diet. There’s no diet soda allowed. There’s no gum allowed. There’s no mints allowed.

Apparently the diet drinks have a certain sweetener that the protocol wants you to avoid in addition to sugar. There are certain sweeteners that are approved and you have to limit your sweet intake to those items. Well, that’s not all the protocol that I have to share, but that’s definitely enough for you to digest today!
