Article Thirteen: My Very First Day On The HCG Diet:Getting To Know The Protocol

Today was my 1st day on my 25 day HCG dieting program. I’m taking Prescription HCG Diet Direct’s program and following their HCG diet protocol. It wasn’t too bad!

It was really fun, really. But then I will need to make it clear that the first 2 days are loading days.

Loading day means that you’re supposed to eat a LOT of calories and aim for fatty foods. So I have to say that was a nice send off to a very low calorie diet.

Maybe by the time I am done cramming tons of high calorie, fat filled foods in my belly I will be so tired of it that I will be able to eat a tiny amount of very healthy food for the next twenty six days. Well, it’s a theory.

But the actual reason for the loading day according to what the HCG protocol says is that it allows the body time to pick up the HCG. During loading days you have to go ahead and start using the HCG injections as outlined in the protocol.

I followed the rules. I started the injection. I used the needle included to mix to the wet and dry vials together. Then I used one of the daily syringes to inject the shot into my leg. I keep the vial in the fridge next to the butter in that little compartment. It gives easy access and also protects it from getting lost or falling out. I’d hate for it to shatter on the kitchen floor.

I woke up first thing and weighed myself (170 pounds) and then went about the day making sure that there was plenty of terrific and fatty foods around for loading day.

I called Lisa and she also started the diet as planned. So far we’re pretty happy with our decision to start the day before Thanksgiving because Thanksgiving is probably the MOST perfect loading day all year long.

If you need advice on what type of foods to have during loading here are some that you could try: queso and chips, tamales, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, apple pie, cheese, hamburgers, french fries, ice cream, chocolate shakes, cake…anything you think is yummy basically. (I secretly just wanted to think about all my favorite food indulgences one more time before I go without!)

The first day on HCG is complete. I weighed myself in the morning and took note of it on a pad on my bedside table as required. I took the HCG injection. I took the B-Total Sublingual once in the morning as suggested. And I’ve got one more loading day tomorrow before the HCG protocol has me starting my very low calorie diet (VLCD).
