People can show confidence in their body language or the way they hold themselves. Confidence is the belief and a healthy self image of oneself. Some people are born and brought up quite confident, others may have to learn this as their experiences have been different or impacting. We realise that some things we hold important when we are younger lose their importance over time. Your talent does not have to be something amazing such as the ability to run a sub-3 hour marathon; it can be something simple, such as the ability to listen and empathies with other people’s problems.
Going out of your comfort zone can help you also build ability, experience and your knowledge. With these you can feel empowered and confident. Many speakers understand by knowing their material they feel more confident. So likewise knowing your surroundings, learning new things, will help you become confident in doing them.
If you have low confidence within the workplace it could be quite dangerous. Sometimes you may need to speak up or act as hesitation may cause you an injury or opportunity missed. Also acting to quickly may also do the same so a healthy self confidence will help take the right action. Share your ideas and let people know what you’re capable of. They may use you to do these things and your confidence will grow.
It can often help to try simple methods of bolstering self confidence. If you lack confidence because of your looks, try changing something. Try restyling your hair or dress in a different way. Sometimes a new look can make all the difference. Remind yourself every single day that you are a wonderful person and when somebody pays you a compliment-believe them! Faking it can also work. If you pretend to be a confident person, you might find that eventually life imitates art and you ARE a confident person!
