Do you have an event coming up? Or do you want a night out with your pals, but want to look great in the pair of slim jeans you have? You don’t have to worry, you can lose up to 5 pounds in a week and be ready and flawless for your night out.
Here are the following steps to take to lose 5 pounds in a week:
First thing first, keep hydrated. Contrary to popular belief, drinking lots of water will help our bodies eliminate more water in the long run. Water, has zero calories, so drinking it instead of smoothies and sodas won’t cause extra calorie buildup. Also, water doesn’t contain added sugar or sodium, so you don’t have to worry about adding extra pounds.
Reduce / eliminate simple starches. Eliminate simple starches, such as white breads, pasta and rice, and replace them with vegetables. Our bodies digest simple starches fairly quickly and leave us hungry again in a short time span after eating. Vegetables, on the other hand, are complex starches, so our bodies take up a longer time digesting them, leaving us fuller for a longer period of time. So by replacing simple carbohydrates, with complex carbohydrates, our bodies work longer at digesting food, keeping us fuller, and lessening the need to snack in between meals.
Limit your salt intake. Salt makes us bloat, and bloating is just excess water in the body, so limit your sodium intake to 1500mg a day. Extra salt in our bodies make us drink more water to try and flush it out. Salt also holds on to water, making it harder for it to be eliminated since we have to drink much more water. So regulating salt will prevent our bodies from bloating, keeping our excess water weight low.
Exercise. Do 20-30 minutes of cardio daily to help burn calories. Specific exercises that target multiple muscle groups at once are optimal because these exercises help to burn more calories, up to 350, in the allotted time span. Consider doing cardio kickboxing, spinning or boot camp workouts to burn more calories as well as tone up your body. Alternatively you can do interval training. This is where you mix short intense bursts or activity with slower ones. For example, you can jog for 20-30 minutes but every 5 minutes you spend 1 – 2 minutes sprinting.
Sleep. There is a correlation between lack of sleep and weight gain, so make sure you are getting enough sleep at night. If you need to, get an extra 30 minutes worth of sleep at night to help you feel invigorated in the morning. Having a more restful sleep boosts our metabolism, and sleeping a tad bid more will give us better muscle tone, since our bodies build muscles in our sleep.
These are some simple tips to help you lose five pounds fast and get ready for the big event in the next week. More steps are required in order for you to keep the weight off permanently, but this is a good way to start.
